October 2, 2017 This class session we discussed communication in engineering and its importance. We discussed the engineering progress reports and how to construct them. For the second half of the class session we began working with Excel spreadsheets and Professor Mason Taught us the basics of Excel and mentioned to us that the use of Excel will be very present though out or engineering career. We made hypothetical calculations of population and how different factors effect the population. We also went over how to use formulas with Excel.

September 25,2017 This session we went to the F7 maker space in order to construct our marker holders. We first learned about the maker space and the different tools that are available to Mt. SAC students through this workshop. Then Professor Mason went over important safety rules for the maker space for our own safety. Then each group was handed a band saw two clams a ruler markers files a drill and a step bit in order to build our marker holder. We started by sawing off our piece of metal then mapping the placement of the holes. We completed as much as we could during the class time that we were given then I had to go to the Maker space on my own in order to finish the project. Building the marker holder was a bit labor-intensive because I had the help of very few power tools and had to file everything down by hand but in the end it was very rewarding to see the final product after taking measurements and composing several drawings of it over the course of three weeks.

September 18, 2017 CAD Drawing This session we Went to the CAD lab and learned the basics on how to draft on fusion 360. With Our first design was a rounded square with a hole The First CAD drawing we practiced The next thing we designed is a cylinder with filleted edges. In this exercise we learned how to use the filleting tool in fusion 360 in order to round items out and create a more 3D model. The next exercise we practiced was an L shape with holes in it as well. In this exercise we practiced making straight lines and used the filleting tool to round out our edges.

September 11,2017 Scheduling and Engineering Drawings This class meeting we discussed our schedule and how to maximize our time to include the most time possible for studying and other activities that are important to us. We learned the importance of taking the time to study for our classes in order to succeed in our classes. We also learned and practiced isometric drawing, orthographic views, and sectional views. We learned the importance of drawing with the correct dimensions and including the most information we can in our drawings. My schedule is the following: Free time Free time Sleep My drawings

Brainstorming product ideas and improvements In class on August 28 we discussed product ideas and improvements to existing products with our groups. Our group came up with a public transportation system that involves the use of automated cars. Our cars would use a system of sensors and GPS location both on the cars and the road in order to allow the cars to drive themselves safely and efficiently. Products that should exist or be improved are a device that prevents drivers from falling asleep behind the wheel. A device that attaches to a ball and measures statistics on how far the ball was thrown or hit and how fast the ball was thrown or hit. A device that would be useful for diabetics is a device that attaches to a phone and an app that accompanies it for checkin blood sugar levels and the app would allow the person to keep track of the levels record the levels give notifications...
