This session we went to the F7 maker space in order to construct our marker holders. We first learned about the maker space and the different tools that are available to Mt. SAC students through this workshop. Then Professor Mason went over important safety rules for the maker space for our own safety. Then each group was handed a band saw two clams a ruler markers files a drill and a step bit in order to build our marker holder. We started by sawing off our piece of metal then mapping the placement of the holes. We completed as much as we could during the class time that we were given then I had to go to the Maker space on my own in order to finish the project. Building the marker holder was a bit labor-intensive because I had the help of very few power tools and had to file everything down by hand but in the end it was very rewarding to see the final product after taking measurements and composing several drawings of it over the course of three weeks.
